Wake on LAN (WOL) is a standard Ethernet network of computers that allows a computer is turned on or awakened by a network message. The message is usually sent by a program running on another computer on the same LAN. Equivalent terms include Wake On WAN, Remote Wake-up On LAN Power over LAN, DSL resume, curriculum vitae on LAN, Wake up on LAN.In case, the computer communicates awakened through Wi-Fi Wake an additional standard called wireless LAN (WoWLAN) should be employed.The WOL WoWLAN and standards have been supplemented with suppliers to provide protocol transparency in on-demand services, for example, after Apple Bonjour-on-Demand.
